Bite-sized tripDay 1 – Semenggoh Rehabilitation Centre
This morning after breakfast you’ll be collected from your hotel in Kuching and taken to the Semenggoh Rehabilitation Centre. We’ll make sure to get you here for their feeding time as this is sure to be a highlight of your trip. Semenggoh is a temporary home for orangutans who have been orphaned or saved, and here they teach them all the survival skills needed for life back out in the wild.
Arrival at tree house lodge
Once you’ve visited Borneo’s most famous residents, you’ll be transferred to your home for the next couple of nights, a real-life tree-house! You’ll be staying in a jungle resort located in the heart of the rainforest, and right next to the beach. This eco-resort is a great place to unwind with the family, you can rent paddle-boards, kayaks and head out on nature-watching tours. There’s also an on-site restaurant so you don’t need to worry about food, you can just take it easy and create those special family memories.
* If there are no treehouses available, we’ll book you a cabin instead.
Day 2 – Santubong River wildlife cruise
The morning is yours to spend as you wish, and in the afternoon your driver will collect you and take you down to the Santubong River. Here, you’ll hop on a boat for a cruise down this mangrove-lined river. Keep your eyes peeled for all the wildlife hiding along these shores. There’s Proboscis monkeys, Irrawaddy dolphins, fireflies and you might look down into the water and spot some crocodile eyes looking right back at you. As dusk settles you’ll be able to see the fireflies twinkling in the evening sky, and afterwards, you’ll head back to your treehouse for the night.
Day 3 – Departure from the Damai Pensinsula
Today marks the end of your Sarawak adventure, but don’t worry, there is so much more to discover in this area. You can head for a taste of culture and visit the previously feared Iban Headhunter tribe. Otherwise, you can spend some more time on the Damai Peninsula, and we can arrange some beach time for you at a resort from where you can head out kayaking in the waters nearby.
Accommodation
For this bite-sized trip we offer the following options
Rainforest Kayaking
From Kuching, we can arrange a rainforest kayaking adventure. You’ll be collected from your hotel and transferred to Bengoh, the starting point of your Kayaking tour. With an English-speaking guide, you’ll paddle in a small group over the slowly flowing river, surrounded by limestone rocks and rainforest. The water is relatively calm, asides from a couple of currents along the way. During the trip, you can take a refreshing swim in the cool river and visit a village of the friendly Bidayuh tribe. You’ll be transferred back to your hotel in the afternoon.
