A foot in the door of the travel industry
BlogGrabbing an opportunity with both hands
After studying at Lewes College for two years I thought it would be a good opportunity to take up an internship available at Rickshaw Travel. I have always been fascinated by the concept of Responsible and Meaningful Travel. I like the idea of doing travel which helps both parties (the traveller and the local people in destination).
All I can say, I am going to miss being here, I have enjoyed every second. I love how laidback everyone is but passionate about their work at the same time. Normally those two don’t work so well but it works a treat here. Even in my first week I was still learning more and more about Meaningful Travel.
Variety is the spice of an internship
I have extremely enjoyed all the different tasks I was given, the best part was each day I was given a new task so it was always a surprise and learning something new. My work varied from gathering quotes and sourcing a stick-on wall design to looking into customer profiles, researching travel blogs and having a go on the company Twitter account.
The best part was that the staff are so kind and have such amazing stories to tell of their travels. Ok maybe that’s the second best part as the best bit is definitely beer o’clock on Friday!
Basically if you see the opportunity to work or even do an internship here I would highly recommend taking it. It will be a bundle of fun.
