Days 1-3 – Buenos Aires: Romance and Tango

Explore sexy and sophisticated Buenos Aires, a city of steamy tango, sizzling steaks and a nightlife that never stops. Take an eye-opening tour with a local Porteño (resident of the city) for an edgy glimpse into behind-the-scenes life and soak up the totally seductive atmosphere. You’ll stay in happening Palermo district, one of the most popular barrios in Buenos Aires.

Day 3-5 – Like a Gaucho in Sunny Salta

After breakfast you’ll be transferred to the airport in Buenos Aires, which usually takes about an hour. We’ll have arranged your onward flight to the next destination on your Argentina itinerary; Salta in Northern Argentina. The flying time today is usually 4 hours. Your domestic flights will be booked as part of your international ticket by your Travel Specialist to fit with your itinerary.

Ride on horseback through the green valleys and tobacco plantations of sunny Salta, steeped in folklore, colonial charm and traditional Gaucho spirit. During this trip, you’ll spend two nights in Salta with a day trip to a local estancia where you’ll horse ride, sample a tasty BBQ and learn all about local life on a ranch.

Days 5-8 – ¡Salud! On the Wine Route

After breakfast you’ll pick up your hire car and drive over tarmac roads into the vineyards, a drive which should take around 3 and a half hours. Drive through rusty rock canyons, cycle between sun-kissed grapevines, gaze up at giant cacti and drink a drop (or two) of local wine. Staying in traditional posadas, you’ll explore vineyards, villages and surreal valleys with colour-changing rocks. This is a 3-day road trip that will take you in the beautiful and bizarre scenery of Argentina’s high plains. You’ll make your way by road to lively Cafayate, known for its local wines and bodegas, where you’ll hop on a bike and cycle from vineyard to vineyard.

Days 8-11 – Andes Outback Drive

You’ll return to Salta for another night in the same hotel before continuing on along the Ruta 9 towards Purmamarca. From Salta this drive should take about 3 hours. Drive through white-washed villages, cacti-scattered plains and rainbow coloured hills on a road trip across Argentina’s altiplano, staying in friendly local refugios. You’ll spend 3 days exploring the remote pockets of the high plains, filled with Inca folklore and fascinating scenery. Explore dusty isolated canyons, meet the locals and cross the Tropic of Capricorn, all with the freedom of your own four wheels.

Days 11-15 – Iguazu Falls in the Rainforest

Next you will head back to Salta and drop off your rental vehicle before heading back to your hotel for one final night. The next day you’ll make your own way to the airport for your flight to Puerto Iguazú. Most direct flights take 2 hours and arrive in the early afternoon. We’ll take care of your half hour airport transfer to your hotel.

Feel the spray of roaring Iguazu Falls and explore the surrounding rainforest, where raccoon-like coatis play. A cluster of cascades set within rich National Park, Iguazu Falls will leave you deafened and utterly speechless. You’ll visit both the Argentinean and Brazilian side of the Falls, the latter with a guide, you’ll spend two nights on the Argentina side and the third night on the Brazilian side.

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. You’ll fly back to Buenos Aires, usually a 2 hour direct flight, where you’ll spend the final night of your Argentina holiday. Depending on what time your flight home departs, you can spend the last day of your trip taking one last look around Buenos Aires. Finally, you’ll head to the airport to catch your flight back home.
